| FINAL PROGRAMME GOA PG QUIZ AND CTEV WORKSHOP |
Dear Friends
It is our pleasure to announce the ‘Gujarat Orthopaedic Association Post Graduate Quiz 2011’ and symposium on ‘Skeletal Growth and Growth Modulation – The Past, Present and Future’ on 18th September, Sunday at Seva Sansthan, Ahmedabad.
Like every year we need to send PG representative from Gujarat for IOA Quiz to be held during IOACON 2011. Continuing with the tradition of combining an education program with GOA quiz we have planned a half day CME on ‘Skeletal Growth and Growth Modulation – The Past, Present and Future’.
Skeletal growth is a very important journey from birth to adolescence in life of a human being. This journey is extremely well programmed in different stages. From birth to adulthood, there is 350 % gain of height and 20 fold gain in weight. This adventure of 17 years can be punctuated with accidents which may lead to problem in stature and limb alignment. Abrasions during growth may create or exaggerate the limb and spinal deformity.
Commonly referred orthopaedic text books have not reserved enough pages for this interesting journey which is very important to every individual. Hence we have decided to discuss the skeletal growth and its important role in orthopaedics for the first time in this CME.
For many years Skeletal Growth has been used effectively as a tool to correct limb and spinal deformity. In recent times concepts and techniques of Growth Modulation have become more refined. More and more conditions can be dealt with Growth Modulation with minimal invasive surgery. Research is ongoing for newer techniques to improve the results and extrapolate this method for newer indications.
This CME will help practicing orthopods and budding orthopaedic surgeons to finding answers for questions on calculating remaining growth and its effect on limb and spinal deformities. At the same time will also provide answers on using growth as an effective tool for deformity correction.
